Hey everyone.

So I've been meaning to write this post about Edd for a couple of weeks now.
Even though we all knew Edd was very sick (cancer is serious business), I for one was shocked and saddened by his sudden passing. Having met the guy a few times on Newgrounds meets, I can honestly say he was funny, sweet, humble, down to earth, despite his massive band of followers. Even though he's no longer with us, I'm still proud call him Friend.

If I go back to when I created my Newgrounds account, so the turn of the century or thereabouts, I could count on one hand the number of people I knew, even by association, to have been diagnosed with any type of cancer - some survived, some didn't make it, but it was such a rare thing. Maybe my parents sheltered me from it, I don't know, but I barely have enough digits on one hand to cover everybody I know right now who is being affected by some form of cancer or another.

As you'll be aware, I have a young daughter of just over a year old. One of her little playmates (born about a month later), has an elder sister about to turn three years old. About three weeks before Christmas 2011, her parents got the devastating news that their elder girl has a rare form of cancer. A friend of a friend's baby daughter, 2 months younger than my own, was diagnosed with a form of Leukaemia at just 3 months old.

Several friends and I are going to be taking part in the Race for Life campaign this year to raise awareness and vital funds to find a cure once and for all, or, as Edd would have it, to "kick cancer in the head". Alongside the two little girls who are presently fighting, Edd's name will also be taking up a little space on the back of my racetag. My daughter will also be walking a little way of it with me (not the whole stretch, she's too small) for her little friends, though we'll be taking joint sponsorship.
